Wine Discovery

Our Wine Discovery Tour is our most popular half day tour! We meet at Plateia Markopoulou, the east parking lot of the Municipal Market at 13:00. As we head out of town, we’ll chat and get to know the other guests on the tour. Once we make it to the highway, the history lesson begins! Crete has been a wine region for 4000 years. Learn all about the the highs and lows that the Cretan wine industry has experienced. 

Take in the gorgeous views as we travel to Anoskeli Winery. We’ll take a walk in their vineyards and learn how grapes are grown. Make sure to take pictures! Anoskeli is also an olive oil mill. We’ll also see how olive oil is made in the modern method.  In the tasting room, 5 more wines will be sampled and an ample snack of cheese, olives, salami, and of course, their famous olive oil and bread. 

Next stop is to the oldest olive tree in the world. Look, I know us Greeks like to say that everything is the oldest in our country but the Guiness Book of World Records says this really is the oldest olive tree. The tree is truly majestic. 

The last stop is Karavitakis Winery. In their beautifully renovated tasting room. Karavitakis Winery focuses on innovative ways to showcase the local Cretan varieties. The wines are unique and delicious. 

Wines are available to purchase at each winery. 

Good to know: While generous snacks are offered at each winery, we recommend having lunch before the tour, we taste a lot of wine! 

There is a maximum of 8 people per tour for an intimate experience. For private groups of 9 or more, please send us a message.

Duration is 5 hours.

Price per person is 90€.
