We don't think it's a coincidence that Jesus's first miracle was to turn water into wine!
We greet you with sparkling wine and freshly squeezed orange juice and home made cheese pies in the morning from your hotel or villa.
Our first stop is Ancient Aptera. You will have an hour to explore this ancient Minoan settlement which features Roman cisterns, an amphitheater, sanctuaries, and a Minoan villa.
Next stop is to a 3,000 year old olive tree in the quaint village of Samonas. Our guide will explain the importance of olive oil production on the island.
A short drive away is the oldest church in Crete, Agios Nikolaos. The church is 1000 years old. We will explain some unique characteristics of the Greek Orthodox church. Continuing we stop at the church of Agios Mamas, the patron saint of animals, that is built in a cave. Alternatively, depending on the weather, we can visit the Samonas cave.
Next we travel to the Apokoronas area to visit Dourakis Winery, a family owned and operated winery. On the way, our wine experts will give you a complete history of Cretan wine, as well as how Cretan wine has evolved in the last few decades. Upon arrival at the winery, we will be greeted by the winemaker and have a tour of the property including the barrel room which is built into the side of the mountain. Next you will sample five wines. You will learn how to taste wine like a professional. Lunch is served at the winery. Guests can have as much wine as they'd like with their meal.
Lastly we visit a microbrewery near Chania Town. We will meet the brewers and have a tour of their brewery followed by beer tasting.
Guests are dropped off at their hotel at the completion of the tour.
