On Sunday November 5, over 1500 people will ascend Syntagma Square for a wine tasting at one of the most luxurious hotels of Europe, Hotel Grande Bretagne. After last year's door-busting attendance, Wines of Crete will be hosting Oinotika in Athens for a second time. Oinotika is a wine exhibition showcasing the unique and varied wines from Crete, the largest of the Greek islands.
In addition to the 25 winery booths, there will be a designated area displaying the breakout white and red grape of the island. Eighteen different bottling of single varietal Vidiano, the sweetheart grape of Crete, will be available to taste side by side. Sweet and dry styles of Liatiko can be tasted together to get a true understanding of the character of the grape.
If you're feeling overwhelmed by the over 150 wines to taste, take a tour with WSET Diploma Candidate, Iro Koliakoudaki. She will be guiding groups hourly and highlighting a different wine zone with each tour.
